As a result, over a period of sustained growth, the commercial contracts side of the business has vastly expanded. Our services range from complete carpentry and joinery for new hotels, leisure clubs and restaurants to student accommodation blocks, call centres, Police headquarters, refits for major retail stores, medical centres, hospitals and international manufacturing companies.

 

Two recent major reconstruction projects awarded to Ian Williams Carpentry are Hotel Indigo, a significant hotel development in the heart of Cardiff’s retail district and  One Central Square an office development on the site of the old bus station in Cardiff.

Hotel Indigo - Dominions House

A new 122-bedroom Hotel Indigo opened in May 2017. It is located in the former Dominion House office building in the centre of Cardiff.


In common with other Indigo Hotels, the guest rooms in Cardiff feature the characteristics unique to the local area. Hence Hotel Indigo Cardiff will highlight three recurring themes: Made in Wales, Industry and Music.


Hotel Indigo Cardiff also includes a Marco Pierre White rooftop restaurant and bar, similar to the one at Hotel Indigo in Birmingham.

Royal Mint - Visitors Centre

Visitors are able to take a tour of the Mint, gaining first-hand knowledge of the manufacturing journey from concept to coin, and discovering the often poignant stories behind the Mint’s medal-making processes.  A series of engaging static and interactive experiences will bring to life the 1,000 year-old organisation’s rich heritage.

Tewkesbury Leisure Centre

The £7.5 million new leisure facility will have a main 25m pool with a 20m learner/training pool including fun features like sprays, water cannons and a paddling pool. It will host an array of dry facilities too including a 60 station gym, sauna and steam rooms, and a flexible activities studio for a whole range of activities including dance, fitness classes and children's parties

 

Ice Arena Wales

Ice Arena Wales is the keystone to the £400m International Sports Village (ISV) at Cardiff Bay. It is the focus for ice sports in the UK, boasting two ice pads and seating for 3,000 spectators. 

Barry Beach Huts

IWC completed the above project in 2014.  Work involved the supply and fit of multi coloured cladded beach huts.

 

Barry Island regeneration scheme followed the awarding of £3million regeneration funding from the Welsh Government. Barry Beach Huts are part of the regeneration scheme.Two blocks of twelve huts sit either side of the visually stunning climbing wall and take centre stage on the rejuvenated eastern promenade. Both large and small cabins are designed to provide families and groups visiting Barry Island with a comfortable base for the day as well as a private area to change and store their possessions.

Hengrove Leisure Centre

A £30m PFI project to build, operate and finance Bristol's Hengrove Leisure Centre in Hengrove Park will boost the quality of sports and swimming facilities in the south of the city. It will include a ten-lane 50-metre swimming pool, a sports hall and a health and fitness suite.

St Davids 2

St. David's 2 in the city centre of Cardiff is now the eleventh largest shopping centre
in the United Kingdom and is the second phase of the original St David's Shopping
Centre. The construction of the extension cost a total of £675m and brought Cardiff
within the top five shopping destinations in the United Kingdom with 20 million
people visiting the centre during the first six months after its opening. St David's
was crowned the international shopping centre of the year in 2010 by Global Retail
Leisure International, beating contenders in Portugal and Singapore.
