As a result, over a period of sustained growth, the commercial contracts side of the business has vastly expanded. Our services range from complete carpentry and joinery for new hotels, leisure clubs and restaurants to student accommodation blocks, call centres, Police headquarters, refits for major retail stores, medical centres, hospitals and international manufacturing companies.

 

Two recent major reconstruction projects awarded to Ian Williams Carpentry are St David’s 2, a significant retail and office development in the heart of Cardiff’s retail district and the Cabot Circus development in Bristol City Centre.

Hicks Gate Fire Station

IWC completed the above project which involved the supply and installation of timber doorsets, ironmongery, skirtings, windowboards, kitchens, stainless steel skirting as well as installation of stainless steel to lift surrounds.

 

 The grade A office 135,000 sq ft No1 Central Square building at the development formed part of the £400m development proposal for the redevelopment of offices and surrounding areas.

RAF Lyneham

IWC completed this project in 2015. Work involved the fit only of doors, ironmongery, screens, window boards, supply and fit of skirting and misc equipment.

 

A £121million contract to establish a major military training centre at RAF Lyneham. The Defence College of Technical Training provides combined training facilities for all three branches of the Armed Forces. The development includes new accomodation for trainees, teaching facilities, an outdoor training area and a public museum.

Gloucester Custody Suite

Gloucester Custody Suite is a hi-tech building boasts 50 cells, two van docks to bring in suspects, four desks to process them and a number of holding cells for those waiting to be processed.
Each cell has an intercom and microphone to be in constant communication with prisoners and include a bed, sink and toilet.
It is all controlled from a futuristic-looking control room on a raised platform where officers will have an almost 360 view of the building, seeing into every holding cell and all four cell wings.
Every single room in the building has state-of-the-art CCTV in place and sophisticated alarm systems mean if one is triggered large screens in the control room automatically switch to the camera in that particular room.

Parc Prison

A £35 million development programme which will see Bridgend Prison expand by 387 prisoner places.The extension sees the build of a new 216-cell house block at the Category B all-male prison.
The new block will boost Parc’s operational capacity to 1,723 sentenced and remanded male adults and young offenders. In addition, a new two-storey industrial workshop and education building will be constructed, along with a new visitor centre and gatehouse.

Imperial Tobacco

IWC completed Phase 1 or this project in 2014 and Phase 2 in 2015.

 

The £20 million project in Southville was one of the biggest construction projects in Bristol that year. BAM built a four-storey concrete-framed building with a zinc-clad frontage on land at Winterstoke Road owned by Imperial Tobacco. The building replaced factory units and used a wide range of natural materials in its 83,000-plus square feet.

 

Admiral Building Offices

Harbourside

Black Rock Police Academy

Black Rock Quarry, is a new police training centre which serves the police forces of Avon and Somerset, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

 

It provides a state-of the-art firearms training hub including self-contained and enclosed indoor firing ranges plus a tactics enclosure together with staff offices, training facilities, and other related services.

Gwent Archives

IWC completed this project in 2011.  Work consisted of the supply of joinery made doors, scarfing/refurbishment to original doors, specially made ironmongery to match original ironmongery to refurbished building.  New doors, ironmongery, IPS, cubicles, skirting, windowboards and kitchens to new build area.

 

The magnificent new facilities provide an ideal environment for the public to use the unique collection of documents.  The building also provides lecture and group facilities so people can learn more about using the resources. There is also a modern archive conservation studio where you can see the delicate work of repair and conservation carried out.

BBC Cardiff Drama Village
