As a result, over a period of sustained growth, the commercial contracts side of the business has vastly expanded. Our services range from complete carpentry and joinery for new hotels, leisure clubs and restaurants to student accommodation blocks, call centres, Police headquarters, refits for major retail stores, medical centres, hospitals and international manufacturing companies.

 

Two recent major health projects  awarded to Ian Williams Carpentry are Bristol Royal Infirmary and AMHU based at Llandough Hospital.

IWC completed this project in 2016.  Work involved the install only of internal doors and ironmongery,  the supply and installation of internal timber glazed screens, skirtings, window boards and external cladding.

 

The Adult Mental Health Unit at the University Hospital Llandough brought together existing adult and specialist services provided at Whitchurch Hospital and the Llanfair Unit under one roof.  The modern, purpose built 135-bed in-patient facility, situated opposite the hospital’s existing main entrance,  includes a concourse similar to that at the University Hospital of Wales.

Wellington Healthcare

IWC completed this project in mid 2016. Work involved the supply & installation of timber doorsets, screens, anti ligature ironmongery, miscellaneous joinery, rainwater pipes & guttering and structural works.  IWC also provided specialist joinery which included a bespoke reception desk.

 

Montpelier Estates have built a medium and low-secure treatment and rehabilitation hospital for patients with a broad range of mental health problems ranging from Learning Disability, Acquired Brain Injury to acute mental illness.
 

Southmead Hospital

A brand-new, state-of-the-art hospital at the old North Bristol NHS Trust Southmead site. North Bristol NHS Trust worked with Carillion on the £430million project, which offers patients the very best state-of-the-art hospital facilities 

Bristol Royal Infirmary

The extensive development represents the mix of new build and refurbishment of three floors of the Bristol Royal Infirmary. Specialist Carpentry provisions were incorporated throughout the project.

 

The Bristol Royal Infirmary is a teaching hospital and provides general and acute medicine and surgery, critical care, trauma & orthopaedic care and emergency treatment. The Bristol Royal Infirmary is the centre for cardiothoracic services for the northern part of the South West region.

Morriston Hospital

IWC completed 2 phases on the redevelopment of the hospital – Completed in 2015 and 2016 with a contract value of £700k and £450k respectively.  Work involved the supply and installation of doorsets, glazed screens, ironmongery, reception desks, skirtings and window boards.

 

Morriston Hospital underwent  redevelopment to replace the pre-war building with new facilities. The £40 million building houses a renal dialysis unit, dental & x-ray departments and an education centre.

Musgrove Park Hospital

IWC completed this project in 2014, and work consisted of the supply and installation of internal doorsets, screens, ironmongery, skirtings and window boards, as well as structural elements to roofs, ramps and cladding.

 

The £34 million project is a major centre for complex surgical work. The  three-storey centre has 112 single rooms with en-suite facilities. It is one of the few NHS developments in the country with all single rooms.

Ysbyty Ystrad Fawr

IWC completed this project, which involved the supply and installation of timber doorsets, screens, ironmongery, skirting, windowboards and reception desks. The hospital had a secure unit which involved a lot of design input to schedule the ironmongery correctly.

 

 The hospital has 269 beds, all single ensuite. It also houses a Minor Injuries Unit, integrated MHU, day surgery, and comprehensive diagnostic, outpatient and therapy services.

Circle Reading Hospital

 The £50 million hospital offers five operating theatres, 30 in-patient beds and 18 day patient beds providing a range of treatments in luxury surroundings.

Merthyr Health Park

The park provides an array of services under one roof, making the best facilities available in the areas where people need them most. The site  boasts a £2.8m academic centre. The academic centre was built in response to a shared vision between Cwm Taf University Health Board and Cardiff University to establish a teaching and research base for undergraduate medical trainees in Merthyr Tydfil with a strong emphasis on community medicine and direct patient contact.

Tedworth House

VINCI Construction UK carried out the £20 million capital works project, which included the renovation of a Grade 2* listed building and construction of a new wing  at Tedworth House.

 

Tedworth House is fully adapted and offers over 50 en-suite bedrooms and four family suites. The Centre has a range of specialist rooms for adaptive sports, education courses, relaxation and socializing which have been designed to ensure the best possible recovery.

 

Tedworth House is also home to the Phoenix Centre, a state of the art gym complex with some of the UK’s most advanced adaptive sporting facilities. The Centre includes a Skiplex, SwimEx, strength & conditioning gym, steam room, sauna and sports hall with a sprung floor.
